Both Argonaut Teams Debut in Top 5 of NCAA Regional Rankings

first_imgNCAA REGIONAL RANKINGS: WOMEN | MENITA NATIONAL RANKINGS: WOMEN | MENPENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF men’s and women’s tennis teams appeared in the top five of the first edition of the 2018 NCAA Division II Regional rankings that were released by the organization Wednesday. The women’s team, which remained No. 2 nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Top 25, is ranked No. 2 in the South Region ranking. Barry is No. 1 in the region and grabbed the No. 1 position in the ITA Rankings as well this week. The Argonauts are 20-1 overall, with a 9-0 mark against Gulf South Conference foes. UWF has won 90-consecutive matches against GSC competition entering this Friday’s home tripleheader against West Georgia, Delta State and Christian Brothers. The UWF men’s team found itself slotted at No. 5 in the regional rankings and climbed two spots to No. 6 in the national poll. UWF is 17-2 on the season and 9-0 in GSC play, and will look to secure its seventh-straight regular-season league title this Friday with a doubleheader against DSU and CBU.The NCAA will announce region rankings for the next two weeks – on April 11 and 18 – leading up to the NCAA Selection Shows on Tuesday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m. (Women) and 7:30 p.m. (Men) Central time on NCAA.com.The region polls will help determine the at-large bids to the NCAA South Region Tournament in late April.
