Today in the ICC Cricket World Cup, two matches are scheduled to be played, and like every time in England, rain is also expected to happen. The first match of the day is scheduled to take place between two traditionally strong teams in Sri Lanka and Australia. While the second will be played between two comparatively weaker and struggling teams South Africa and Afghanistan.Sri Lanka has struggled a lot lately and ever since the retirement of key players and former captains like Kumara Sangakara, Mahela Jaywardane, Sanath Jayasuriya, TM Dilshan, etc, they have had a very weak and watered down squad. On the other hand, Australia is just as mighty as ever and are clearly one of the teams to beat in this tournament.Sri Lanka has also been struggling with a lot of their players like Angelo Matthews being massively out of form. Lasith Malinga is also old and out of his prime now and is not the same bowler he used to be.Australia has plenty of X-factor players in their team. However, the way in the last game their batting order failed apart from the openers should surely be a cause of worry. In the second game of the evening, i.e. South Africa vs. Afghanistan should have been a routine winnable game for South Africa. Though, in this tournament, they have been in terrible form. Both teams are low on the points table and will be looking to get their first win.For South Africa, Lungisani Ngidi’s injury has further bogged down their campaign and has left them unable to take wickets. Their batting has been rather toothless as well, with all their star batsmen like Quinton de Kock, Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis, etc all failing miserably so far.Afghanistan is relatively young in the cricketing world and for them to even qualify for the tournament is a victory in itself, but if they can secure a win in even one of these CWC game, especially beat a team like South Africa will be to massively punch above their weight, something which they will surely fancy.last_img
