Cristiano Ronaldo brace gives Real Madrid 2-1 win over Eibar

first_imgCristiano Ronaldo continued with his rich form as he once again netted a brace to give Real Madrid a 2-1 win at Eibar in La Liga on Saturday.Ronaldo scored for the seventh successive game in all competitions by blasting into the net in the 34th minute after chesting down a long ball by Luka Modric, but eighth-placed Eibar pegged the champions back when Ivan Ramis outjumped Sergio Ramos to head home from a corner in the 50th.Ronaldo was denied by an inspired save by Eibar’s Marko Dmitrovic, who clawed away the Portuguese’s header following a cross from Gareth Bale. The irrepressible striker had the final say, however, meeting a cross from Dani Carvajal in the area and powering the ball beyond the Serbian goalkeeper in the 84th minute, scoring a 13th goal in his last seven games in all competitions.Real are third in the Liga standings on 57 points, 12 behind runaway leaders Barcelona, who visit basement club Malaga later on Sunday. EA Access is finally available on PS4

first_img1:57 The problem with most entry-level laptops: They come with mechanical hard drives. That makes for a mighty slow Windows experience. This Lenovo model features a 128GB solid-state drive, so it should be pretty quick to boot and load software, even with its basic processor. Plus, it has a DVD-burner! Wait — no, I’m not. As much as I respect the original intent of the holiday (which became official back in 1894), to most of us, it’s just a bonus day off — one that’s blissfully tacked onto a weekend. So, yeah, stores; go ahead, run your sales. I’m listening. Sunil Kumar Desai on Udgharsha We have tried to give a new

first_imgSunil Kumar Desai, on the sets of Udgharsha.Sunil Kumar Desai Twitter AccountMaverick filmmaker Sunil Kumar Desai came to limelight by making suspense thrillers before delivering a few well-made romantic entertainers. In his long career, he has tried his hands in different genre movies, but suspense thriller continues to be his favourite. The 63-year old is also remembered for the unique titles that usually ended with the letters ‘sha’. His latest film Udgharsha is no exception. Ask him whether he opts for such names for sentimetal reasons, Sunil Kumar Desai states, “It became a brand without me attempting for it. Yet some point of time, I realised that there was a kind of energy in such titles for this genre films. Thus it became a practice for me to pick such title, but I am not superstitious about having such titles,” Desai opens up.Udgharsha has an interesting mix of artistes in the cast. Bollywood’s Thakur Anoop Singh, who was recently seen in Darshan’s Yajamana, Kollywood actress Sai Dhanshika, Telugu actress Shraddha Das along with Kabir Duhan Singh and Tanya Hope are part of the ensemble cast. When asked the reason behind roping in the actors from different film industries, the director said, “There is a kind of freshness in the casting. Their looks, attitude and physiques are different from each other. We have tried it to give something new experience to the audience,”Talking about Udgharsha, Sunil Kumar Desai claimed that it is all about chain of incidents that takes place in the lives of a few. Between the suspense and mystery, there is a beautiful romance woven into the main story. “The incidents that happen in the 48 hours form the crux of the storyline,” he points out.Sunil Kumar Desai had earlier made thrillers like Tarka, Utkarsha and Sangarsha. Do he see changes in making such genre movies today when compared to earlier, Desai says, “The core content remains the same. Be it romantic movies or suspense thrillers, every filmmaker rehashes the same old content, but gives different dimensions to it. With the evolving technologies, making styles and presentations are constantly in the makeover.Asking him the secret success formula of suspense thrillers, Desai responds, “There is no such formula. Everybody has their own style of making and if the audience like the content, it will become a successful film.”Udgharsha will release on 22 March in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam in over 400 screens. Taxman asks breakup of net worth of those earning over Rs 50

first_imgIndians earning more than Rs. 50 lakh a year will have to declare the break-up of their net worth, stipulates the new income tax return form (ITR) for financial year 2015-16, reported the Economic Times. All assets and liabilities at the end of financial year 2015-16, by all individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) earning over Rs. 50 lakh, will have to be filed under the new schedule AL that has been added to all ITR Forms, it said.Talking about a series of action the IT Department has taken over the year, Archit Gupta, founder and chief executive officer of ClearTax, told Mint, “Last year, the income-tax department asked for bank account information and this year they have gone a step further and asked for net worth of taxpayers.” The daily added that both individuals and HUFs will also have to provide details of pass-through income from business trust or investment fund in ITR form 2 and ITR form 2A.Pass-through income is an income sent through a pass-through entity to its owners. It is not subject to tax at the corporate level but only at the level of an individual owner.”While further instructions on how to value assets are awaited, taxpayers will find it challenging to value their assets themselves, especially jewellery and vehicles,” Gupta told at a different occasion to ET.The notification has classified liabilities as outstanding loans if any, and assets as movable and immovable in the traditional way of cash and, property and chattels respectively. However, amongst the movable assets, jewellery and vehicles (including boat, yacht and aircraft) will come to cause valuation difficulties, said Gupta. He explained that most salaried individuals usually do not maintain fair market value of jewellery owned or written down allowance (depreciation) of vehicles owned by them. The ET added that the department has also introduced a new section to ITR-4S seeking code, nature and description of the three main businesses — activities or products that individuals earn from. The new ITR-4S can now be filed by partnership firms too. All they have to declare is the salary and interest paid to the partners.”ITR-4S was earlier a succinct form, now with three additions specifying nature of business, salary and interest paid to partners (applicable only to firms) and schedule AL, it will need a lot more effort from those who preferred to file it,” added Gupta. In this year’s Budget, the scope of ITR 4S was extended to bring professionals earning up to Rs. 50 lakh a year under presumptive tax, wherein, they have to pay taxes at a pre-determined rate of 50 percent of gross receipts. However, in the earlier tax filing process, the only requirement was profit declaration. The IT Department’s newly introduced forms will now change this in case of multiple businesses, said the daily.last_img read more

Home minister requests students to end protest

first_imgAsaduzzaman Khan KamalAssuring the demonstrating students of taking proper actions to ensure road safety, home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Wednesday urged them to end the ‘blockade’ and go back home. Also, a senior police officer asked his colleagues not to use force to disperse the young protesters, although he did not refer to assault of a few demonstrators allegedly by the law enforcers in the city on Tuesday. However, terming the students’ demonstration as logical, minister Kamal said, “We have noted the points raised by the students with sympathy. We are also sympathetic to families for the deaths of students. We are promising you that the logical demands raised by you would be met. We will ensure highest punishment to the culprits.”The home minister made the assurance at a press conference also attended by shipping minister Shajahan Khan, whose comments after the death of two students in road crash angered the students.Kamal also said no vehicle without license or route permit would be allowed to ply on the roads, from now on.When they held the briefing, hundreds of thousands of student protesters blocked Dhaka city’s major intersections for the fourth day Wednesday, disrupting traffic movement. They took to the streets after a bus ran over a dozen students killing two of them on the Airport Road on Sunday noon.Requesting the students to end their demonstration, the home minister pointed out that at least 309 vehicles were vandalised and eight more torched in the last three days.Despite calling the protest logical, he still alleged that ‘some vested quarters are trying to use it in favour of their own interests. At a meeting on Wednesday, Dhaka metropolitan police commssioner Asaduzzaman Mia described the situation as ‘anarchic’ and asked the policemen not to commit any excess. He directed them to control the situation by persuading the demonstrating students.Demonstrators alleged that the police on Tuesday beat up and fired bullets on students.A photo that shows a policeman trying to beat a girl student and another showing a policeman grabbing the collar a young student have gone viral.last_img read more
